Prayer Brings Positive Change

At Grand Avenue Temple, we have personally experienced the power of prayer. We’re excited to share some of the ways we are praying for you and our community.

Moms in Prayer

Each week, caring mothers gather together to pray for specific needs. Guided by scriptures, we bring our needs before God to bring about big and small miracles in everyday lives.

Praise: God is Love

Romans 5:5, “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”

Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, or any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Confession: Psalm 130:3-5, “If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, therefore you are feared.”

Thanksgiving: Psalm 97:12, “Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.”

Intercession: I Corinthians 13:4-5, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

Deuteronomy 10:14-17 “Earth and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God. And yet He rejoiced in your fathers and loved them so much that He chose you, their children, to be above every other nation, as is evident today. Therefore cleanse your sinful hearts and stop your stubbornness. Jehovah your God is God of Gods and Lord of Lords. He is the great and mighty God, the God of terror who shows no partiality and takes no bribes.”

Psalm 135:5 “I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.”

Confession: I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Thanksgiving: Psalm 111:2, “Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.”

Intercession: I Corinthians 15: 33-34, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’ Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning.”

John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

PRAISE: God is Immutable—Never changing or varying—unchangeable

I Samuel 15: 29 “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a man, that he should change his mind.”

Psalm 33:8-11 “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”

CONFESSION: I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

THANKSGIVING: 1 Chronicles 16:8, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name, make known among the nations what He has done.”

INTERCESSION: I John 3:7-9, “Dear children do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reasons the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.”

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead , I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.”
